Most
grape vines plus their fruit and even the tougher ornamental Glory Vines
are covered in powdery mildew at present, due to the humidity we have been
having. Even a few hot days won’t make it disappear. |

Dean at Hawthorn reports that he’s pruned his
‘Ladyfinger’ grapevine as directed to short spurs and they vines have a
good fruit set this year, but he’s troubled with grey fan shaped bracket
fungus on the trunk of a valuable Walnut tree.

I had an enquiry from a Wendy in Blackwood about
why her Philadelphus mexicanus is not flowering. She has used potash
supplements and seaweed extracts in an attempt to foster flowering.

revive her Fiddlewood that’s been in a pot of the past 20 years. I think
