South Australia - August 2002

Select the date from the list shown below for this months tip

5th August

A reminder that if you are growing Chrysanthemums and cut them down after they finished flowering, they will have made plenty of basal growth and now is the time to strike cuttings from that material.

12th August If you have a backdrop of Cannas somewhere in the garden, they are probably starting to grow again, but resist leaving them.

19th August  It’s rumoured that a well-presented garden can add up to 15% to the value of a house when and if you come to sell yours.

26th August Time to get in that first spray if you want to control peach curl leaf this year. Any of the various copper compounds will do, but you must spray in week’s time after the initial spray, which is best to correspond to the stage at which buds are swelling and bursting.
