Can you recognize nitrogen deficiency? It can
be caused by putting your lawn clippings before they have been composted or rotted down.
They then deplete the available nitrogen from your soil as they continue to break down,
causing a short-term nitrogen deficiency and yellow leaves. Nitrogen can be applied as urea to hungry plants like rhubarb and silver beet,
but never on native plants or they will burn and may even die. Sulphate of ammonia in a
diluted form is ideal for a range of flowering shrubs including gardenias, hydrangeas,
fuchsias and abelias and the old pee in a bucket with a five times top up of water, works
a treat on lettuce! |
