 African Lawn Beetle

The African Lawn Beetle is the bug to beat all bugs. It really is a pest and is all that stands between most home gardeners every achieving the perfect lawn. Even a ratty old Kikuyu lawn can be made to look brilliant if this pest is controlled and right now is the time to do it. Their black beetle stage is now actively gnawing on the roots of your lawn, almost guarantee it. They do that from first week in February until second week in March them lay eggs that hatch into witchetty grub looking larvae that go dormant in winter but start chewing in Sept-Nov, then go dormant again in the heat of summer to emerge in their next stage as the voracious beetle that mates and continues the cycle. The Lawn Beetle Bombs with the active agent work well where chlorpyrifos is the active agent. Water your lawn to get it growing first them spread the granules as directed them water again. Organic control is a big ask, but if you have the patience of Job, then build small sand levee banks around the worst affected areas, which is where the dried grass is and flood irrigate. You may need to use a wetting agent to get good penetration, but the beetles will surface and you nab them and do the needful! Best done at night, when they are not as light shy. Best of luck
